Sugar Maple, Acer saccharum



Habitat: Hardwood forests, especially in the Beech-Maple climax community. One of our most valuable hardwood trees; prized for both its wood and sap.

Characteristics: Mature trees attain a height of 40-60 feet and may have a diameter of 1-2 feet. Leaves are primarily five-lobed and turn golden-yellow in the autumn.
