Habitat: Well-drained soils in mountain forests, usually above
4,000 feet.
Characteristics: Attains a height of 40-60 feet; the trunks of
mature trees may reach 1-2 feet in diameter. The needles are green,
whitish beneath, flat, and are 3/8"-1-1/2" long. The cones fall apart
upon ripening.
