Boxelder, Acer negundo



Habitat: Moist (hydric) fertile soils including flood plains, streambanks, slopes, roadsides, and meadows.

Characteristics: A medium-sized tree often attaining a height of 50-75 feet and having a diameter of 2-3 feet. The compound leaves are 4-10 inches long, and, when in groups of three, resemble poison ivy. It flowers in April or May.
